Security turned the fan and their friends, who also had paid tickets, away. They entered only an hour and a half before kickoff, not wanting a seat right in the front. One Penn State student explained they missed the entire first quarter because they were seeking help since six o’clock when they entered. This was a horrible experience for those who paid for their tickets but were still denied entry. Penn State students who have attended every home game due to buying tickets the correct way were turned down, despite having real tickets. This led security to prevent fans from entering the area, not caring about their tickets. Through the ambush, many students found a way to sneak into the student section. The crowded aisles are a huge safety hazard, which also has caused some students to fear watching the game in this section. This is due to large groups sneaking into the section to watch the game. There was an issue where it is so packed that the aisle to walk was filled with students who had no seats. In the 2021 White Out, there was also an overload of students. Every year the tickets sell out quickly, leaving many without. This led to thousands of students getting in for free, taking away from those who did pay. Penn State’s Stadium security had no way of stopping them. How did this happen? Thousands of students arrived at Beaver Stadium early in order to rush into the building and push right past the security. The number may not be completely accurate though. Before the game began, there were students who entered Penn State’s stadium without tickets. What seemed like a great experience for students, was actually a nightmare for hundreds within Penn State’s Stadium. Penn State’s 2022 White Out was packed, and the Nittany Lions beat the Minnesota Gophers 45-17. It is electric and an event on almost every sports fan’s bucket list. During the Nittany Lions' games with Purdue and Iowa, the Penn State student section responded to the initial "White Out," with 99 percent wearing white and raising the decibel level that made it difficult for the Boilermakers and Hawkeyes to change plays at the line of scrimmage. More than 20,000 students dressed in white spearheaded raucous crowds that disrupted Purdue and Iowa at Penn State home games earlier this season. It’s nothing that the team goes out of its way to do. It certainly helps that Penn State has a dominant color like white, because all fans have gear in that color, but fans have to actually put in effort to create an imposing atmosphere. If you want the White Out shirt, you have to buy it. Penn State doesn’t do t-shirts layouts, either. ![]()
